are you ever going to be allowing access to winsite anymore ? i'd like to know "when or if " you will have the site back up again at all,,, because i reformatted my comp and lost a few fun games that i got from winsite. it was called " memory tiles " and i cant find that game any place else ! sigh. :( please email me and let me know, thank you... tammy desertmoon@sasktel.net
I am a software developer who has had shareware on Winsite since 1997. It is a great pity to see them go. They rendered an excellent service. I'm just wondering why they didn't go the route of download.com and charge for their services - I would have been quite happy to pay. Alternatively, surely someone would have been prepared to pay for the site and/or goodwill for the thousands of shareware files stored on their servers. Once again, thanks for the excellent service and everything of the best for the future. I.S.

i cant beleive anyone would spend years upon years geting a website like this all togerther and above all just up and throw it all away for nothing ,,.. i know its took a tremenius lots of time and money to run this website but jesus what a pity to loose such a wanderful website as this is , i do know this is the only website ive ever been able to got to and click on it and just get any ,and everything you need to build a pc with are rerpair a pc ,are and get any type of file are drivers and dll files you can imagine , this is a sasd day for us all my freinds to see such a huge site go down ,this will undoubltly leave a lots of us hurtijng for files we will never be able to get anyplace else , this is probley the bigest and best website of it kind in the world .and my hats off to you for giveing us all the grate and truely wonderful years of haveing anything we wanted for free . but i geuss youve got your reason for shuting down .so thanks guys for the years you give to us you are really going to be missed jt in .ky

Dang if the best part of each day didn't just go out of service! Will seriously miss this site. Having said that...this was the only site I ever found that would host my files without hassles-without me having to learn html to build my own site, etc, etc. Now as a shareware/freeware programmer I am effectively out-of-business. What to do?
For people who want to find software or occasionally even to host their software online, try: www.simtel.net Not as easy, reliable or good as Winsite, but maybe the only other choice we have now!
winsite is always great. it was one the very few freeware sites which provided freehosting for developers. I hope Winsite will be alive again, may be charging few bucks from authors to filter out non serious developers.
Charging wouldnt have worked, look how download.com had to quickly change their ways after they started charging (I know they still offer paid services, but free is almost as good). I started in 1996 writing and selling software and WinSite was part of my daily life. I feel sad that you`ve closed down, but I`m a realist, man cannot live on bread alone! I`m still running, there are loads of shareware and freeware sites out there, but WinSite was always close to my heart.. Take this as a lesson, this recession has been a killer for MANY MANY people, when it`s over (which could be a long time) I`m sure you`ll move on to bigger and better things.. Hi Loved your site - especially liked Dominoes Deluxe. The trash they put out now is ridiculous - 3D????? in Dominoes. Unfortunately I had to get a new computer - your program is still open for downloading but no one sells it so there is no registration code. A big Loss Jim Russ
